Cube Steak

2 lbs cube steaks
2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 garlic clove
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1 cup water
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
olive or vegetable oil to coat bottom of frying pan
white rice (optional)

saute chopped garlic over low heat, add cubed steaks to the pan, increase the heat to medium and cook until steak cubes are brown.  Add potatoes, tomato sauce and water.  Let simmer over medium heat for approximately 35-40 minutes.  Add salt and pepper.  Sauce should thicken up to be a gravy consistency, and the potatoes should be cooked through.  Serve with white rice.
