1-1/2 to 2 pounds stewing beef cut in 1 inch cubes
4 to 5 carrots sliced
1 small onion diced
salt and pepper to taste
1 can 28 oz tomatoes or stewed tomatoes
2 to 3 stalks of celery sliced
1/4 cup quick cooking tapioca
1 whole clove (optional)
2 bay leaves
trim all fat from meat. Put all ingredients in stoneware and mix. cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours, high 4 to 5 hours
