OLD TIME CORN BREAD

1-1/2 cups corn meal (yellow)
2 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil

1. combine first 5 ingredients in large mixing bowl with wire whip
2. beat eggs and milk in small bowl until smooth; stir in oil. stir into dry ingredients until blended. pour into a greased 13" x 9" x 2" baking pan
3. Bake in hot oven - 400 degrees for 35 minutes, or until crusty brown and golden. Cool slightly in pan on wire racks, cut into wedges. Serve warm.
