1 cup scalded milk
1 tbsp sugar
1 small cake yeast
1 cup flour
2/3 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp lard
3 tbsp sugar (additional)
flour (about 1-1/2 cups)
add 1 tbsp sugar to scalded milk when luke warm add crumbled yeast. Cover and let stand 20 minutes, then add 1 cup flour and the salt. Cover and let rise in warm room until light. Cream butter and lard together, add sugar and mix well. Add to yeast mixture and mix well. Add enough flour to make a stiff batter. Cover again let rise until light. Add flour.
